You Have My Heart

Sunday, January 20, 2019

Hi there! I hope everyone has had a great weekend! I am sharing a card that I created for this week's Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

To start my card I die cut a panel with a stitched rectangle die. Before I stamped the panel with Versamark ink I put tape around the edges so I wouldn't get ink and embossing powder past the stitched border. I heat embossed the image with silver glitter embossing powder and then adhered the panel to a white card base. I heat embossed the heart stamp, water colored it with my Zig clean color markers and fussy cut it out. There is a die for this stamp but it cuts out the middle and I didn't want that for this card. I cut a few different pieces of paper to go behind my stamped sentiment and then popped the heart up with foam tape.

My Supplies:
Stamps: Simon Says Stamp Quilted Hearts, Simon Says Stamp Roses For You
Dies: My Favorite Things Fishtail Flag Stax, My Favorite Things Blueprints 13
Ink: Memento Rose Bud, Zig Clean Color Real Brushes in Pink and Peach Pink
Paper: Strathmore Bristol Smooth, Papertrey, Ink Stamper's Select White, random paper from my stash
Other: Ranger Silver Tinsel embossing powder

Thank you for stopping by!

One of a Kind

Hello there! I hope everyone is having a great weekend! Today I am sharing a card that I made for this week's CASology and Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenges.

To make this card I started by making cloud masks for the background. I don't own any cloud dies, stamps, or stencils so I sketched my own clouds and cut them out of some blue painter's tape. I knew I would need something different than the masking paper I normally use because I wanted to use the smooshing technique to watercolor with. After I got my masks where I wanted them I added two shades of blue distress ink to an acrylic block, sprayed with a little water, and pressed it down on to the paper. When it was dry I popped it onto a white card base using some foam tape. To finish I die cut and stamped a sentiment and decided to adhere a piece of vellum behind it.

My Supplies:
Stamps: Simon Says Stamp Tiny Words
Dies: Simon Says Stamp Small Hello, My Favorite Things Fishtail Flag Stax
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Tumbled Glass and Faded Jeans
Paper: Strathmore Bristol Smooth, Papertrey Ink Stamper's Select White, Papertrey Ink Sheer Basics Vellum Patterned Paper Collection

Thank you for coming by!

Something New

Thursday, January 10, 2019

Hi there! Today I am posting a card that I made for the Simon Monday Challenge. It is my first attempt at a one layer card using masking and my first card created with the January Simon Says Stamp January card kit.

I had so much fun making this card and I learned a lot of new things while I was making it. I started out by stamping my penguins and quickly found that Memento Tuxedo Black doesn't work very well on Bristol Smooth cardstock but it was what I had so I went with it. I made masks for my penguins and then stamped the igloo. I used distress inks for the ink blended background and some shading in the snow. You can't see it all that well in the picture though so I will practice shading so I'm more comfortable with adding color. I used a small paintbrush to flick white acrylic paint mixed with water onto the background. I used my Zig Clean Color markers to color and add shading to the penguins and the igloo. Last, I stamped the snowflakes with Versamark ink and heat embossed them with white embossing powder.

My Supplies:
Stamps: SSS January card kit
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black; Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Tumbled Glass, Mermaid Lagoon, Salty Ocean, and Chipped Sapphire; Zig Clean Color markers in Blender, Deep Red, Wine Red, Scarlet Red, Orange, Pale Gray, and Cool Gray 1
Paper: Strathmore Bristol Smooth cardstock

Thank you so much for coming by!
