Papertrey Ink March Blog Hop

Wednesday, March 25, 2015

Hi there! This is my first time participating in Papertrey Ink's blog hop, actually any blog hop.

Blog inspiration

I am excited because the inspiration photo for today's hop includes two of my favorite colors. I couldn't just make one card so I made three!

For my first card I stamped the flowers from Brushed Blooms onto a piece of white card stock. I die cut that piece using the Sentiment Splits Curve Vertical die. Behind it I stamped a sentiment from Sentiment Splits and backed both sheets with a piece of Hawaiian Shores card stock that I cut slightly than the card base.

For my second card, I didn't take inspiration from just the colors, but also the things in the picture. My side panel was inspired by the yellow and white polka dot table cloth. I heat embossed the polka dots with white embossing powder. A lot of the pots in the picture are yellow along with the flowers so I stamped the flower pot and flowers using Harvest Gold ink. I added a touch of aqua by adhering a smaller side panel and stamping the sentiment in Aqua Mist.

My third card didn't turn out quite like what I was going for. Originally, I had stamped the sentiment in the middle of the piece of white card stock. Once I started stamping the flowers around it, it ended up not looking right because it wasn't balanced with nothing in the left-hand corner. I pulled out some rectangle dies and cut it so the whole image was centered. I backed it with a piece of Harvest Gold card stock, rounded all of the edges, and adhered the layers.

Thank you so much for coming by today! I hope your Wednesday is wonderful!

Merry Monday #150...GIFTS!

Monday, March 16, 2015

Hi there! Today I am participating in Merry Monday and the theme for this week is gifts.

For this week's challenge, I decided to go with nontraditional colors and more of a vintage look.

For the background on my card front I adhered a doily and cut off the extra. I die cut squares and bows from PTI's Jolly Holiday. I dry embossed each of the squares with different embossing folders. You can't tell it in the picture but the bottom gift is embossed with a vertical line embossing folder. I die cut a couple fishtail flags. I stamped the sentiment of the white flag and layered it offset the aqua one. Thank you for visiting! I hope your Monday has been a great start to your week!

Dies: PTI Jolly Holiday, MFT Die-namics Fishtail Flags STAX

CCCB - The keys to the time

This week at the City Crafter Challenger Blog the challenge is The Keys to the Time and I chose the time aspect by using a clock on my card.

My husband and I moved on New Year's Eve and for the past two and a half months my husband has been working very hard to get our new house just the way we want it. He installed garage door openers, a garbage disposal, cabinets in the laundry room, and he built my new craft desk. He has been spending his weekends working hard after working full-time all week so I made this card for him. He truly is making our new house a home and he loves cuckoo clocks so it's perfect for him.

I dry embossed the background, die cut the clock, birds, and frame for my sentiment. I stamped everything and then adhered it all to the card front.

My Supplies:
Stamps: PTI Tick Tock
Dies: PTI Tick Tock, PTI Keep It Simple Frames
Ink: PTI Pure Poppy, PTI Tropical Teal, PTI True Black
Paper: Recollections white, PTI Stamper's Select White

Merry Monday #149 {Monochromatic Blues!}

Hi there! Today for my first post I am participating in Merry Monday. I couldn't pass up the monochromatic blue challenge since blue is my favorite color.

For this card, I brought out my clear embossing powder to make a fun snowflake background. The first thing I did was stamp my sentiment. Then I stamped the snowflakes with versamark and heat embossed the powder. Using my blending tool I added a couple shades of blue around the snowflakes. I really like the effect of the blended ink with the embossed background.

My Supplies:
Stamps: PTI Snowfall & Snowfall Additions
Ink: PTI Spring Rain, PTI Blueberry Sky, PTI Enchanted Evening
Paper: Recollections white, PTI Stamper's Select White

CCCB - Washi Tape

Wednesday, March 4, 2015

Hi there! Today I made a card for the City Crafter Challenge Blog. It's my first time participating in this challenge and it's also the first time I am using washi tape on a card. I don't have very much washi tape. It's not something I really got into because I wasn't sure how to use it so I had limited supplies for this card but I thought it would be fun to try something new.

For my card, I began with making a washi background with two rolls I thought would look pretty together. I experimented with stamping the butterflies and eventually decided that I didn't have any ink colors that went with the bright green washi tape. After deciding that wasn't going to work, I thought about doing a vellum overlay. I found some card stock that matched the green and adhered the butterfly together. I added my sentiment at the bottom of my card. Thank you for coming by!

My Supplies:
Stamps: PTI Beautiful Butterflies
Dies: Beautiful Butterflies
Ink: PTI True Black
