Something New

Thursday, January 10, 2019

Hi there! Today I am posting a card that I made for the Simon Monday Challenge. It is my first attempt at a one layer card using masking and my first card created with the January Simon Says Stamp January card kit.

I had so much fun making this card and I learned a lot of new things while I was making it. I started out by stamping my penguins and quickly found that Memento Tuxedo Black doesn't work very well on Bristol Smooth cardstock but it was what I had so I went with it. I made masks for my penguins and then stamped the igloo. I used distress inks for the ink blended background and some shading in the snow. You can't see it all that well in the picture though so I will practice shading so I'm more comfortable with adding color. I used a small paintbrush to flick white acrylic paint mixed with water onto the background. I used my Zig Clean Color markers to color and add shading to the penguins and the igloo. Last, I stamped the snowflakes with Versamark ink and heat embossed them with white embossing powder.

My Supplies:
Stamps: SSS January card kit
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black; Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Tumbled Glass, Mermaid Lagoon, Salty Ocean, and Chipped Sapphire; Zig Clean Color markers in Blender, Deep Red, Wine Red, Scarlet Red, Orange, Pale Gray, and Cool Gray 1
Paper: Strathmore Bristol Smooth cardstock

Happy Birthday Wishes

Friday, April 8, 2016

Hi there! One of my good friends is having a birthday tomorrow so I used this week's Freshly Made Sketches sketch to create a card for her.

I loved making this card! I started out by trimming a piece of white card stock and stamped the cake and Happy Birthday sentiment onto it. I die cut the strawberries and stamped those. Next I trimmed a piece of red card stock and red and white striped card stock to layer behind the white piece. To finish I die cut a small banner and stamped the rest of the sentiment onto it.

My Supplies:
Stamps: PTI Just Desserts/Just Desserts Sentiments
Dies: PTI Just Desserts, MFT Fishtail Flag Stax
Ink: PTI True Black, PTI Pure Poppy, PTI Soft Stone, PTI Dark Chocolate, PTI Blueberry Sky, PTI Bright Buttercup, PTI Green Parakeet
Paper: PTI Pure Poppy, PTI Pure Poppy & White Basics, PTI Stamper's Select Whtie

Tag You're It! Guest Designer

Friday, April 1, 2016

Hi there! Today I am thrilled to be the guest designer for the Tag You're It! Challenge. Nancy has designed a beautiful tag for today's challenge!

For my tag I took inspiration from the umbrella, flowers, and birthday sentiment.

I started out by die cutting the tag, umbrella, and bouquets. I did a little bit of ink blending on the tag (unfortunately it's hard to tell from the picture) and stamped the bouquets. I stamped the sentiment, adhered everything to the front of the tag, and added a few silver sequins.

My Supplies:
Stamps: PTI Tick Tock (sentiment), PTI Fresh Floral Wraps
Dies: PTI Scattered Showers, PTI Fresh Floral Wraps, PTI Bookmark 2
Ink: PTI Lovely Lady, Hibiscus Burst, Bright Buttercup, Harvest Gold, Hawaiian Shores, Tropical Teal, Spring Rain, Green Parakeet, True Black
Paper: PTI Soft Stone, Stamper's Select White

Thank you so much for coming by! I hope your weekend is fabulous!

Easter Blessings

Sunday, March 6, 2016

Hi there! I hope everyone is having a wonderful Sunday! Today I made an Easter tag for this week's Tag You're It! Challenge.

I really enjoyed making this card with the new Color Pop Florals set from PTI.

I began by stenciling some flowers and leaves onto the tag with an ink blender. I stenciled some more flowers and leaves on a piece of white card stock and die cut them. I arranged the die cuts on the tag and popped them with foam tape. To finish I added the sentiment and tied a piece of pink ribbon to the top.

My Supplies:
Stamps: PTI Color Pop Florals, PTI Keep It Simple: Easter
Dies: PTI Tag Sale: Quilted, PTI Color Pop Florals
Ink: PTI Hibiscus Burst, PTI Raspberry Fizz, PTI Spring Moss, PTI True Black
Paper: PTI Stamper's Select White
